In the heart of West End, Cove Haven Cemetery was one of two African-American cemeteries in Lexington. The cemetery had been overrun with criminal activity and deteriorated due to a lack of funding. Restore Hope rallied volunteers and local businesses to revitalize the cemetery. Restore Hope cleaned over 10,000 headstones, demolished an old office building, built new fencing and a gate at the front entrance, created new signage, removed brush and dead trees, installed a new culvert, and built a new focal point for the landscaping wall.
